The former Cistercian Altzella Monastery is one of the oldest buildings in central Saxony. Up to its dissolution in 1540, it had seen many guests come and go. For taking care of all its guests, pilgrims and the sick, it had a flourishing infrastructure that could be likened to a small town. Today some of the buildings can be used again – and provide space for family functions, meetings, conferences, concerts and weddings.
